The aim of the project is to give more knowledge about nature to preschool children, promote caring attitude towards it and foster awareness about human values by reading folk tales and national authors' tales, organizing activities about the three main themes of the project (trees, birds and animals), to attend staff exchange events.
Who are our partners?
In the preschool groups of Jumprava primary school
we started introduction to the project by getting acquainted with other
countries, mostly concentrating on our neighbouring countries - Lithuania and Estonia.
During the whole week our children examined the maps of the countries, searched
for the biggest cities of those countries, learned how to count until five in
Estonian and Lithuanian, examined the flags and coats of arms….and many other
things. We also read one folk-tale of each country and listened how it sounds
in the respective language – of course we did not understand a word, but we
compared the sounding of those languages.
On the last day of the week all the groups gathered
in the assembly hall to present to others what they have found out. Representatives
from Estonia and Lithuania also had come to visit us J The smallest group (1.5-3 years
old) marched in the hall waving the flags of the three countries. A little bit
older ones (3-4 years) named the colours in the flags of the three countries.
4-5 years old children told what they had found out about Lithuania, but the
oldest group told everything they got to know about Estonia.
After the presentations, the teacher Taiga invited children to play Lithuanian and Estonian games.
Afterwards a party followed
with Lithuanian, Estonian and Latvian music. The project was officially opened.
After the party we decorated our Project corner
with flags.
